“…All species of the subfamily Pentatominae are plant feeders, with a similar ecology (Panizzi et al, 2000). The frequency characteristics of N. viridula vibratory signals are also similar to other Pentatominae species described so far , 2007Pavlovčič and Č okl, 2001;McBrien et al, 2002); therefore the tuning of the system and the morphological data presented in this study bear importance for the whole taxon.…”

“…, 2001), whereas in two sympatric Thyanta species, this type of song (designated MS1 in these species) is produced either during calling or courtship (McBrien et al ., 2002). Analogous regularly repeated short pulses are present in H. strictus male courtship songs as echeme 2 (Pavlovič & Čokl, 2001). In harlequin bugs, the song with similar characteristics, MS3, was recorded before copulation and after the emission of the female and the first and second male songs.…”

“…, 1999). The only pentatomid species in which song repertoire and mating behaviour differs from the general family scheme (Fish & Alcock, 1973; Harris & Todd, 1980; Borges et al ., 1987; Kon et al ., 1988) is Holcostethus strictus (Pavlovič & Čokl, 2001), in which songs are more complex, a female song is not used for calling, and males rather than females initiate substrate‐borne communication.…”

“…Most of so far studied pentatominae species show similar acoustic behavior, vibratory repertoire and syntax, although some songs might be missing from the repertoire , 2001, McBrien et al 2002, McBrien & Millar 2003. A different repertoire has been found in Holcostethus strictus (Fabricius) (Pavlovcic & Cokl 2001). All stink bugs so far studied produce vibratory signals that have low frequency characteristics with dominant frequencies around 100 Hz.…”
