Sonochemical synthesis of two new copper(II) complexes with azo ligands derived from anthranilic acid and β-naphtol

Abstract: Nanostructures of two new copper(II) complexes, (CuL1), 0.5EtOH. 1.5H2O (1), [H2L1=5-(4-Carboxy phenyl azo) anthranilic acid], (Cu(L2)2) (2), [HL2=1-(4-Carboxy phenyl azo) 2-naphtol] have been synthesized by the reaction of H2L1 and HL2 with Cu(OAc)2 · H2O through sonochemical process. Calcination of the nano-sized compounds 1-2 yield CuO nanoparticles at 550-450°C under air atmosphere. Metallic copper nanoparticles were prepared by direct calcination of compound 2 in surfactant at 180°C. These nanostructures … Show more

“…Ultrasonic process as a fast, convenient, and economical method has been widely used to generate nanostructure coordination compounds. 25,26 In continuation of our previous research works [27][28][29][30][31] on structural characterization of group XII coordination compounds and effective intermolecular interactions in the crystal packing of them, in the present study, synthesis and spectral characterization of some new mercury complexes are described. Furthermore, the crystal structures of two Hg(II) complexes of (E)-N1-((E)-3-(2-nitrophenyl)allylidene)-N2-(2-((E)-((E)-3-(2 nitrophenyl)allylidene)amino) ethyl) ethane-1,2diamine have been analyzed and compared to the previously reported structures of some other complexes.…”

“…In this way, CuO particle size can be decreased until 12.1 nm. However, the specific structure and dimensions of particles differ depending on the precursor and the treatment conditions [42][43][44]. Hajnorouzi proposed a new method called "direct sonoelectrochemistry" incorporating ultrasonic irradiation in the process of electrolysis of a Cu tip and a physical top-down method, "US ablation" with Cu foil as the starting material to produce CuO NPs [45].…”

“…In 2015, the Morsali group described the ultrasonic synthesis of [Cu(567)]·(EtOH) 0.5 ·(H 2 O) 1.5 and [Cu(568) 2 ] at 40 kHz for 1 h (Figure ). Interestingly, the same conditions under reflux were also efficient in yielding the expected complexes, but the powder obtained was not nanosized. Regarding silver, the only application of sonochemistry dealt with anion metathesis starting from [Ag(569) 2 ]Cl to yield [Ag(569) 2 ]BF 4 , a photoluminescent complex .…”
