“…It is sometimes challenging to make a preoperative diagnosis of an ovarian fibroma, especially to rule out malignancy such as fibrosarcomas. In general, fibrosarcomas show an irregular surface and heterogeneous echogenicity by ultrasound, and heterogeneous intensity on T2WI MRI, reflecting varied status of degeneration such as cystic degeneration, edematous change, hemorrhage infarction and necrosis. However, one should be aware of the fact that fibroma also may exhibit these changes, especially in larger fibromas, and this causes misdiagnosis of this tumor as malignant ovarian tumors .…”
