Sonographic fetal biometry charts for a Pakistani cohort

Abstract: This study aimed to develop growth centiles at different gestational weeks for fetal biparietal diameter, abdominal circumference, femur length and head circumference in a Pakistani cohort. Data were collected at a tertiary referral hospital from pregnant women at gestational ages 13-40 weeks referred for obstetric ultrasound as a part of routine antenatal care. A total of 1599 fetal sonographic biometric measurements were collected after screening for the inclusion criteria. For each measurement, separate reg… Show more

“…The current study meticulously presents fetal biometry assessment, which shadowed this geographical region's criteria, especially for the normotensive group 13,23 , also highlighted the significant differences in fetal biometry parameter measurements in pregnancy induce hypertensive groups. We determined statistically significantly reduced femur length and biparietal diameter in pregnant females of all three hypertensive groups; similar results of a retrospective study speculated that 52.5% of pregnant females were PE and possessed poor biparietal diameter growth and its association with an adverse neural developmental outcome in the fetus 24 .…”

“…Another 41 articles were considered from other sources, of which 17 were included. The final analysis included 97 full‐text articles 2,17–111 published between 1974 and 2021 (Figure 1, Table S2). Most excluded studies (309 articles, including 18 conference abstracts) did not report an equation to estimate mean or median GA from given measurements or tested an existing formula rather than reporting a new formula (Figure 1).…”

“…[4] Many existing references for biometric measurements have been reported by a number of investigators with results that show the uniqueness to their setting. [5][6][7][8][9] The fetal biometric charts used in Udaipur are set from a different geographical setting, race and nutritional status. It is therefore important to conduct a study to investigate the reliability of the presently used references.…”
