Sonographie der Rotatorenmanschette

Abstract: Shoulder sonography is a well-established and standardized method to evaluate the status of the rotator cuff, the long head of the biceps, and the subacromial and subdeltoid bursae. Using high-frequency linear probes, the sensitivity in detecting total tears sized 0.5 cm and greater is > 90% and in detecting partial thickness tears of at least one-third of the cuff substance > 75% when using the dual-criteria standard. Ultrasound achieves comparable or better results than native magnetic resonance tomography a… Show more

“…Recently, high-frequency ultrasonography with the use of linear transducers has been advocated as a valuable technique for examining the bicipital tendon and its ten-don sheath (Kramer and others 2001). In humans, radiography and ultrasonography are used complementarily to improve sensitivity in the evaluation of bicipital tenosynovitis (Farin andJaroma 1996, Hedtmann andFett 2002). In the case reported here, radiography proved to be very sensitive in detecting degenerative changes and signs of instability and dysplasia.…”

“…41 Hedtmann and Fett state that better results regarding sensitivity and specificity are seen in studies with larger numbers of examined patients. 40 US is also unable to evaluate other sources of shoulder pain including labral tears, biceps tendon pathology, and other intra-articular issues.…”
