Abstract:The anti-apoptotic protein prothymosin alpha (PTMA) is overexpressed in various cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Earlier studies have shown that PTMA blocks apoptosis in cancer cells by inhibiting caspase-9 activation and apoptosome formation.
