Sorptive Removal of Hydrogen Sulfide from Gas Streams by an Mg‐Al Layered Double Hydroxide

Abstract: Mg-Al layered double hydroxides (Mg-Al LDHs) were used as an adsorbent for hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) removal. Removal efficiency of H 2 S by the MgAl LDH has been investigated at different temperatures and humidity. The results have shown Mg-Al LDH to be highly promising as an adsorbent for H 2 S removal. Research results about sorption mechanisms indicate that at lower temperatures (20 ºC), H 2 S removal by Mg-Al LDHs is mainly a physical sorption process; however, at higher temperature (> 40 ºC), it is domina… Show more

“…33,34 The cation compositions can also be varied by adjusting the ratio between M 2+ and M 3+ (M 2+ = Ni 2+ , Zn 2+ , Cu 2+ etc; M 3+ = Fe 3+ , Cr 3+ , Al 3+ etc), with M 3+ ranging from 17 to 33 atomic% of the total number of cations. [35][36][37] LDHs are interesting because they have a large number of highly dispersed metal sites both on the external and internal surfaces. 35,38 The anions of LDHs can be removed by calcination at high temperatures (>400 ∘ C) at which LDHs transform to layered double oxides (LDO), according to the reaction: (Fig.…”

“…The cleaning method of water washing series alkaline washing can effectively remove P 4 , CO 2 , H 2 S and HF in the yellow phosphorus tail gas [11] , but phosphine can not be removed. Activated charcoal method [12] , catalytic oxidation method [13][14][15] has good removal of phosphine in yellow phosphorus tail, but the process is long, need heated and regenerated catalyst, which influences their industrial application. Complex Temperature Swing Adsorption and Pressure Swing Adsorption method [16] to purification the yellow phosphorus tail gas have a bigger investment, energy consumption, which affects its large-scale applications.…”
