Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmen Adaylarının 8.Sınıf T.C. İnkılâp Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük Dersinde Çizgi Roman Türünün Kullanılmasına İlişkin Görüşlerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

This study was conducted with 50 teacher candidates studying at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Faculty of Education, Department of Social Studies Teaching in the 2018-2019 academic year to analyze their opinions on the use of comics in the 8th Grade History of Turkish Revolution and Kemalism course. The qualitative research method was employed in the present study. A semi-structured interview form was used for collecting the data for the research. The obtained data were analyzed using the content analysis method. According to the results of the research, the teacher candidates approve the use of works of verbal and written literature in courses. They define comics as the narration of incidents through pictures and drawings. They regard the use of comics in educational processes is advantageous in drawing student's attention to the courses, while they stated that it would be disadvantageous for students to take the characters in these comic books as role models. The teacher candidates remarked that they might use comic books to teach the History of Turkish Revolution and Kemalism courses. They claim that the comics can be used in the framework of a course on the Turkish Revolution and Kemalism, particularly while teaching the Period of National Struggle and Principles. They were unable to provide a specific example of comics suitable for teaching the History of Turkish Revolution and Kemalism course when it came to the usage of comics in educational practices.
