“…Similar conclusions have been made in dogs who were exposed to an alarm for 3mins (75 dB, 0.25-8 kHz) and subsequently displayed muscle contraction, piloerection and salivation, associated with increased heart rate and blood pressure, and an increased plasma ACTH, noradrenaline and cortisol (Engeland et al, 1990).
