Source class identification for DSLR and compact cameras

Abstract: Abstract-The identification of image acquisition source is an important problem in digital image forensics. In this work, we focus on building a classifier to effectively distinguish between digital images taken from digital single lens reflex (DSLR) and compact cameras. Based on the architecture and the imaging features of DSLR and compact cameras, the images taken from different sources may have different statistical properties in both spatial and transform domains. In this work, we utilized wavelet coeffici… Show more

“…For instance, the ability to establish a link between a camera and the digital image is invaluable in deciding the authenticity and admissibility of a digital image as legal evidence. Similarly, doctoring images is becoming more frequent as a way to influence people and alter their attitudes in response to various events [1], [2]. Hence, for conventional and online media outlets, the capability to detect doctored images before they are published is important to maintain credibility.…”

“…As the fast spread and growing popularity of digital cameras, many researchers are particulary interested in addressing the challenges in source camera identification [45,[84][85][86][87][88][89][90][91][92][93][94]. They study source camera identification from which individual camera, what sensor type, model and brand is the device used in capturing a given image to whether a set of the given images can be classified to the correct sources.…”
