Source term assessment as a basis for protective measures for the population in case of a nuclear accident in a nuclear power plant with radiological consequences

Abstract: The reliability of the evaluation of the radiological situation in the pre-release phase of a nuclear accident strongly depends on the quality of the source term estimation. Input data for the decision support system RODOS, such as time, composition, extent, and duration of a possible release of radioactive substances (source term) serve as a basis for the assessment of possible radiological consequences in the vicinity of a plant.
