Abstract: Herpesviruses, including the oncogenic Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), must bypass host DNA sensing mechanisms to establish infection. The first viral latency protein expressed, EBNA-LP, is essential for transformation of naive B cells, yet its role in evading host defenses remains unclear.
