SP_Ace: a new code to derive stellar parameters and elemental abundances

Abstract: Context. Ongoing and future massive spectroscopic surveys will collect large numbers (10 6 -10 7 ) of stellar spectra that need to be analyzed. Highly automated software is needed to derive stellar parameters and chemical abundances from these spectra. Aims. We developed a new method of estimating the stellar parameters T eff , log g, [M/H], and elemental abundances. This method was implemented in a new code, SP_Ace (Stellar Parameters And Chemical abundances Estimator). This is a highly automated code suitabl… Show more

“…This method has been proven to be successful in the physical stellar parameters determination, e.g. ULyss code by Koleva et al (2009), MAχ by Jofré et al (2010) and SP ACE by Boeche & Grebel (2016). The colour scale indicates the probability P obtained from the reduced χ 2 red = χ 2 −χ 2 min , whose value gives the closeness to the χ 2 min model.…”

“…We used the high-resolution and high signal-to noise spectra of the Sun, Arcturus, Procyon, Eri, and Vir. The calibration method employed is fully described in Boeche & Grebel (2015) and permits the calibration of the log g f values for isolated and 2 Note that the GCOG is the extension of the well know Curve-Of-Growth function.…”
