Space Mapping With Multiple Coarse Models for Optimization of Microwave Components

Abstract: Abstract-The performance of space mapping (SM) optimization algorithms depends primarily on the quality of the underlying coarse model. Models available in the microwave area can be cheap but inaccurate or accurate but too expensive. Here, we consider a multicoarse-model technique that allows us to combine the merits of both types of coarse models to substantially reduce the overall computational cost of optimization in comparison to traditional SM.Index Terms-Coarse model, engineering optimization, microwave … Show more

“…Table I shows the different alleles used for each gene. Thus, we have reduced the problem to combinatorial optimization, the total number of combinations being (12) with , , and representing the number of different model types, element types, and mapping types, respectively. Thus, each circuit generated by the genetic algorithm is encoded as a -by-7 matrix, where is the number of parallel branches defined in (9).…”

“…In [18], a tri-band bandpass filter is constructed by using three pairs of stub loaded OLRRs. In [19], the space-mapping technique is used for OLRR filter design. This is accomplished in conjunction with FEKO [20] a commercially available EM solver.…”
