“…And the LUC changed areas have become the major contributor of soil erosion, especially the high‐intensity HAA (Figure 5). Although GTGP and NFCP have been taken to restore vegetation coverage, and intensive development strategy has been adopted to obtain sufficient living space and food (Chen et al, 2019), however, human activity (Rong et al, 2018; Zhang et al, 2000) have caused the destruction of vegetation cover (decreased by 13.36%) in high‐intensity HAA (Guo et al, 2018; Renard et al, 1991; Yang & Lu, 2018). Therefore, soil erosion increased in high‐intensity HAA (Figure 5).…”

“…The DRUB (E 113°45′–116°00′, N 23°00′–25°25′) belong to the Southeast China Coastal Hilly Regions, and are located at the east side of the Pearl River basin (Figure 1). It occupies 1,893,402.0 ha and is a key potable water source of Heyuan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong (Chen et al, 2019; Rong et al, 2018). Its climatic characteristics are similar to the northern regions of Southeast Asia with an annual average temperature of 20.4°C and the annual average rainfall is 1,529.6 mm (during 1951–2017) more than 80% of precipitation falls during the rainy season (see supporting information for more details, Figure S1).…”

“…Located at the head of the Dongjiang River in southern China, Fengshuba Reservoir (FSBR) provides drinking water to nearly 40 million people in the surrounding cities of Longchuan, Shenzhen and Guangzhou., and can be used as a typical study of large water source reservoirs. With the rapid economic development of Dongjiang River Basin (Yanhu et al 2013), the FSBR may be polluted by nutrients, which will threaten the ecological environment and human health in the basin (Rong et al 2017). Hence, investigating the occurrence and morphology of nutrients in the FSBR is crucial.…”
