Spatial–Temporal Pattern and Influence Factors of Land Used for Transportation at the County Level since the Implementation of the Reform and Opening-Up Policy in China

Abstract: In this paper, we study the characteristics of the spatial–temporal pattern of land used for transportation at the county level since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy in China and discuss the factors that influence the spatial differences between lands used for transportation in order to provide a reference for the formulation of traffic policies. The authors used ArcGIS spatial analysis, an ordinary least squares (OLS) regression model, and a geographic detector model based on the data o… Show more

“…The influences of transportation on the development of territorial space (Figure 4): Firstly, the construction of transportation infrastructure will promote the change of land along the route from non-construction land to construction land, enhance the development intensity of land, and then promote the increase in land price; secondly, the improvement of the transportation network will enhance the accessibility of the region, and the cost of passenger and freight transportation will be reduced, and the spatial structure of the region and the city will be changed accordingly [144,145]; lastly, the construction of the transportation infrastructure will contribute to the enhancement of economic vitality by directly pulling investment and indirectly promoting the upgrading of the regional industrial structure. Based on the above three influences, transportation will cause differences in the degree of regional transportation advantages, which will in turn promote changes in the allocation of regional factors and the further division of labor and cooperation of industries and ultimately lead to the reorganization of regional spatial and economic structure.…”

“…From 1950 to the present, theories on the interaction between urban roads and urban society and other elements mainly focused on the biological environment and landscape [1][2][3][4][5][6], urban agglomeration and urbanization [7][8][9][10][11][12], industrial transformation [13][14][15][16], land agglomeration use [17][18][19][20][21], real estate development [22][23][24][25][26][27][28], location [29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37], mixed land use [38][39][40][41], and property right [42,43]. Based on quantitative models, scholars have conducted a lot of research mainly on the interaction between economy, social demand [44,45], land and transportation [46].…”
