Spatial Transcriptomics Identifies Expression Signatures Specific to Lacrimal Gland Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Cells

Abstract: Although primary tumors of the lacrimal gland are rare, adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is the most common and lethal epithelial lacrimal gland malignancy. Traditional management of lacrimal gland adenoid cystic carcinoma (LGACC) involves the removal of the eye and surrounding socket contents, followed by chemoradiation. Even with this radical treatment, the 10-year survival rate for LGACC is 20% given the propensity for recurrence and metastasis. Due to the rarity of LGACC, its pathobiology is not well-underst… Show more

“…A denoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is the most common malignant epithelial tumor of the lacrimal gland, accounting for 11% of cystic epithelial tumors and 1.6% of all orbital tumors [1][2] . ACC may involve extensive local infiltration, significant bone metastasis, and peripheral nerve infiltration [3] .…”

“… 5 Due to the rarity of LGACC, accurate diagnosis, treatment, and management are challenging. 6 A fast and reliable intraoperative method to detect tumor margins, assisting in removal of involved tissues and sparing uninvolved areas, has always been a potentially ideal method. So, we report a patient with ACC arising in the LG with proptosis of the right orbit.…”
