Spatial Variation of Ground water Quality Parameters and its Suitability for Drinking at Makutopora Aquifer, Dodoma Municipality, Tanzania.

Abstract: A study was conducted to benchmark the ground water quality parameters and its spatial variation from Makutopora boreholes which are found 32 km from Dodoma town. A total of 90 samples (from both deep and shallow wells) were collected and analyzed for various quality parameters. The analysis results were interpolated using statistics and Inverse Distance Weighting tool in a Geographical Information System (GIS) environment to determine their spatial variation. The results indicated that all samples were within… Show more

“…Chemical and physical parameters affecting water quality require continuous monitoring to avoid health hazards before dam water is used for drinking, irrigation, and industrial purposes ( Chaudhari et al, 2016 , Gulumbe et al, 2016 , Mora et al, 2017 , Mulamattathil et al, 2015 ). Increased concentrations of certain metals and oxides may cause many diseases, mostly in young children, such as methemoglobinemia, manifested by laxative gastrointestinal disturbance and hypertension ( Chao et al, 2016 , Fan and Steinberg, 1996 , Kisaka, 2018 , WHO, 2017 ).…”

“…The Z-score or standardized anomaly index (SAI) tested the normality of annual rainfall distribution as expressed in Equation (4). When SAI = 0, means the annual rainfall is equal to the mean value for all years, SAI > 0 means above normal distribution and wetted years, and SAI < 0 means below normal rainfall distribution and dried years (Kisaka, et al, 2015(Kisaka, et al, -2018Nouaceur and Mursrescu, 2016).…”
