Spatializing experience

Abstract: In this study we present a novel ICT framework for the exploration and visualization of historical information using Augmented Reality (AR) and geolocalization. The framework facilitates the geolocalization of multimedia files, as well as their later retrieval and visualization through an AR paradigm in which a virtual reconstruction is matched to user's positions and viewing angle. The main objective of the architecture is to enhance human-data interaction with cultural heritage content in outdoor settings an… Show more

“…The next possible extension is for representing the information stored in multimedia documents concerning urban evolution. Many research works propose different visualization approaches for historical photographs (Chagnaud et al, 2016;Pacheco et al, 2014;Schindler & Dellaert, 2012;Snavely et al, 2006). 2006) also proposed a system for browsing images and for answering questions like which images depicted a particular scene or which photographs were taken close to a given image.…”

“…Other interfaces improve education through engaging the users [53,58]. Related to tourism, georeference permit to link narratives and add layers of information on intangible CH [35,37,43,44,56]. We may find interfaces that maximise tourist experiences according to their interests [25,39,45,47,48,52,59] or recreate the historic environment representing the original fac xades of restored buildings [33,60].…”
