Abstract:We show that a III-V semiconductor Vertical External-Cavity
Surface-Emitting Lasers (VECSELs) can be engineered to generate light
with a customizable spatio-temporal structure. The temporal control
is achieved through the emission of Temporal Localized Structures
(TLSs), a particular mode-locking regime that allows the individual
addressing of the pulses traveling back and forth in the cavity. The
spatial profile control relies on a degenerate external cavity and
it is implemented thanks to an absorptive mask … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
