Spatiotemporal Variation of Late Quaternary River Incision Along the Heihe River in the Northeastern Tibetan Plateau, Constrained by Dating Fluvial Terraces
Abstract:Rates of river incision are widely used to track changes in rock uplift rate and climate over time and space. However, the relationship between the spatiotemporal variation of river incision and past tectonic or climatic processes is still unclear. Here, we focus on the spatial patterns of river incision in the interior and front of the Qilian Shan in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. A sequence of late Quaternary terraces is well preserved along the Heihe River across the central Qilian Shan. We complement ex… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
