Special Feature on Regional Sustainability: analysis in a spatial and regional context with broad perspectives on the risk of global warming, natural disasters, and emerging issues due to the globalized economy

Abstract: Articles included in the special feature section were explained in terms of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It was shown that sustainability is conceptual and very flexible, while being too abstract for practice. This flexibility suggests a vast frontier for further research on Regional Sustainability in regional science fields. Various threats to humans were dealt with-global warming, natural disasters that could be intensified by global warming, the disappearance of marginal and minority communities, e… Show more

“…Global warming has been serious issue and problem to human civilization nowadays and has to be considerations in environment management [1][2][3]. IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change) estimates that earth average temperature will be increasing by 1,5 ˚C in 2030-2050 [4]. One of threats because of global warming is sea average level rise [5] which has effect on demography system in coastal area [6].…”

“…According to the Climate Bond Initiative (CBI), the global issuance of green bonds was less than USD 50 billion in 2015, but by 2021, it reached more than USD 500 billion (see Figure 1). One of the reasons that green bonds are attracting attention is that natural disasters, such as typhoons, torrential rains, and fires, are occurring more frequently due to rising temperatures, and the need to mitigate and navigate global warming has become an international concern (Higano and Otsuka 2022). Governments, local governments, organizations, and others have become increasingly supportive of issuing green bonds, and regulations, laws, and markets have been established to promote green bonds to raise the funds needed to prevent global warming.…”
