“…Among a few publications, Miere [1] , Inoue [4] , Barnes [5] , Hefferna [6] , E. Ferrier [7] et al have studied experimentally on the fatigue behavior of the whole strengthened beams. The results of these studies showed that the fatigue life can be increased effectively by strengthening with FRP [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] . However, very limited research on bond behavior under cyclic fatigue loading of concrete structures strengthened with FRP has been reported.…”

“…Fatigue performance and durability of reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) are of great concern in the field of civil engineering 1–8 . For the fatigue behaviour research of RC beams strengthened with FRP, verification experimental studies of fatigue behaviours of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) or RC components strengthened with CFRP have been carried out since last mid‐nineties 1–5 . Research results indicated that CFRP sheets largely improved the fatigue lives of RC beams.…”

“…Among them Miere 1 discussed the fatigue behaviour of RC components strengthened with glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) and CFRP and proposed that GFRP and CFRP largely improved the fatigue behaviour of RC components. Inoue 2 carried out fatigue tests of RC beams strengthened with CFRP and discovered that CFRP not only effectively improved the fatigue behaviour of RC beams but also decreased the deflection of mid‐span and the crack width of test beam. Muszynski and Sierakowski 3 got S–N curve from experimental study of RC beams strengthened with CFRP.…”

“…However, bridge structures bear the action of fatigue loads, the fatigue bond strength between CFRP and concrete determines directly the structure safety. So, it is very important to carry out study on fatigue property of interfacial bond between concrete and CFRP, but research in this field was relatively poor, Inoue 9 , Toutanji 10 , Heffernan 11 , Mohsen 12 , simulated fatigue behavior of bond strength between CFRP and concrete by establishing analytical model. Yao Guo-wen carried out fatigue tests in RC beams with constant amplitude load, and established the damage accumulation model which could describe member damage and fracture process 13 .…”
