SUMMARY
A Rare Agent in a Case of Tuberculosis Cutis Verrucosa: Mycobacterium caprae
Tuberculosis is a major health problem allover the world. Tuberculosis may cause infection in all tissues and organs, although it most commonl y affects the lungs. In some cases, lung and non-pulmonary tuberculosis can coexist. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis can be caused by the spread of tuberculous bacilli through the lymphohematogenous pathway during primary infection or by latent reactivation of the agent, which spreads to other organs, resulting in decreased resistance or increased sensitivity of the individual. Tuberculosis susceptibility is increased in patients with underlying diseases such as diabetes mellitus, malignancy, alcoholism, connective tissue disease, renal failure and HIV infection. Skin tuberculosis, a rare form of tuberculosis, can be classified into two groups as primary and secondary. Primer infection can occur more frequently in children and adolescents, but may result in secondary reactivation of the infection or end of re-infection.
