The article describes the planktonic algae seasonality dependence on environmental factors in the Naiman reservoir, located in southern Kyrgyzstan. According to the biological seasons, the predominance of one or another type of algae is determined by various factors. The object of study, materials and research methods are described. Phytoplankton not only shows a productivity index, but is also an indicator for determining water quality in aquatic ecosystems. Phytoplankton accumulates nutrients, enriches water with oxygen and plays a vital role in the process of water self-purification. The phytoplankton community is the most important element of a reservoir's biota, trophic chain's initial link, the main element of biotic circulation and water self-purification processes, as a widely used biological monitoring system component, its structural and functional characteristics allow to determine the trophic and ecological state of various reservoirs types.
