“…Abnormalities of the long arm of chromosome 6 are commonly detected in lymphoid malignancies, especially non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (Kaneko et al, 1982), ATL (Miyamoto et al, 1984), and ALL (Third International Workshop on Chromosomes in Leukemia, 1980). However, the presence of abnormalities of chromosome 14 at band pl 1 -ql1 in both groups may not indicate an aetiologic similarity between these two groups, but rather be related to the T-cell nature of both lymphomas (Zech et al, 1986). Our findings suggest that HTLV-I does not play a specific role in chromosomal abnormalities of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with peripheral T-cell type, although it remains so far unsolved whether HTLV-I is lymphomogenicper se or not.…”
