Abstract:We present the elastic and thermal properties of the rare earth orthocobaltate GdCoO3 by the means of a Modified Rigid Ion Model (MRIM). We report the bulk modulus (B), cohesive energy (φ), Reststrahlen frequency (υ), Debye temperature (θD) and Gruneisen parameter (γ). The value of Gruneisen parameter (γ) is in the range 2 to 3, which supports the earlier reported values of γ.
