Specificities of growth of topological arrays of carbon nanotubes

Abstract: Research results on the synthesis of carbon nanotube arrays using a combined catalyst are pre sented. Thanks to optimal synthesis parameters such as temperature, the reagent flow rate, the concentration and type of organometallic compound, and the composition of the catalyst film, a new synthesis method for the arrays of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) of a given topology is developed. The influence of the size effects of topological elements on the characteristics of the CNT arrays is studied. The results of a statis… Show more

“…Other studies mention the importance of using different catalysts like Fe–Co [ 9 , 10 ], Fe–Ni [ 11 , 12 ] or Fe–Mo [ 13 ], as a way to influence the growth on zeolite (MgO) supported CNTs [ 14 , 15 ]. However, in all these articles, at least two steps are required: the formation of catalyst nanoparticles over substrate particles, followed by the CNTs synthesis under a carbon source flow with the consequent manufacturing delay.…”

“…To synthesize CNTs in regions formed in the above described manner, we explored the processes of plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), using a NanoFab 800Agile setup assembled on a Plas malab System 100 platform, Oxford Instruments (UK) [2].…”
