Spectral curves are transcendental

Abstract: Some arithmetic properties of spectral curves are discussed: the spectral curve, for example, of a charge $$n\ge 2$$ n ≥ 2 Euclidean BPS monopole is not defined over $$\overline{\mathbb {Q}}$$ Q ¯ if smooth.
