Spectroelectrochemistry of Electroactive Polymer Composite Materials

Abstract: In this review, we have summarized the main advantages of the method of spectroelectrochemistry as applied to recent studies on electrosynthesis and redox processes of electroactive polymer composite materials, which have found wide application in designing organic optoelectronic devices, batteries and sensors. These polymer composites include electroactive polymer complexes with large unmovable dopant anions such as polymer electrolytes, organic dyes, cyclodextrins, poly(β-hydroxyethers), as well as polymer-i… Show more

“…The coupling of electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques provides complementary information. For example, such measurements can help in studying the processes occurring during the oxidation or reduction of conductive polymers, such as doping and dedoping [ 37 , 40 ], degradation [ 41 ], electrochromism [ 42 ], intermolecular interactions [ 38 , 43 ] and mechanisms of synthesis [ 44 ].…”

“…), (pseudo)alloys fabricated via powder metallurgy [7,8], hybrid materials [9,10], functionally graded materials [11,12], high entropy alloys (HEAs) [13,14], or composites [15][16][17]. Composites can be of various types and can consist of several materials (e.g., metals [18], ceramics [19], polymers [20], or their variations, such as metallic glasses with polymers [21], polymers with nanoparticles [22], or ceramics with polymers [23]). Metallic composites combine several metals within a single material which then features enhanced properties, when compared to the individual metallic components.…”
