Spectrophotometric Determination of Reducing Sugar in Wines Employing in-Line Dialysis and a Multicommuted Flow Analysis Approach

Abstract: A multicommuted flow procedure for the spectrophotometric determination of reducing sugars in wine has been developed. A dialysis unit was incorporated in the system to minimize matrix interferences and eliminate the colored compounds of the wine. The oxidation-reduction reaction in an alkaline medium between reducing sugars and the Cu 2+ -Neocuproine complex was employed. The compound formed was monitored at 460 nm. In the proposed procedure, there was a linear response between 0.25 and 4.0 g L -1 reducing su… Show more

“…The working solution of uric acid was acquired by diluting the stock solution with a suitable distilled water volume, and then pH was adjusted using 0.1 M hydrochloric acid or 0.1 M sodium hydroxide. A stock solution of NC reagent 1000 mg/L was prepared in 10% (v/v) of absolute ethanol [24]. Working solutions of NC reagent were prepared by dilution in distilled water.…”

“…The Fehling method was carried out by inserting 1 mL of Fehling A and Fehling B solutions into a test tube, then adding 2 mL of the sample and heating it in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes. The presence of reducing sugar indicated by the formation of red brick Cu 2 O deposits [23].…”

“…When infecting, CWDE from Ganoderma is responsible to break plant components such as cellulose and lignin and converted into reducing sugar (Wang, 2020). Other than that, UV/Vis Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy has shown its capability to predict reducing sugar (Silva, 2018) which is potential to detect BSR. Yet, there is no research on the use of DR UV/Vis spectroscopy to determine the presence of BSR.…”
