Spectroscopic Investigation of the Ultrafast Photoinduced Dynamics in π‐Conjugated Terpyridines

Abstract: Ultrafast light-induced processes in a series of pi-conjugated mono-, bis-, tris- and tetrakis(terpyridine) derivatives are investigated by femtosecond time-resolved spectroscopy. Non-exponential excited-state dynamics involving singlet-triplet intersystem crossing are observed which span from picoseconds to nanoseconds (see figure). Time-resolved spectroscopy is applied to investigate the ultrafast relaxation dynamics of several pi-conjugated mono-, bis-, tris- and tetrakis(terpyridine) derivatives. This part… Show more

“…One setup is described in detail by Siebert et al [49] and was used to employ a pump beam with a wavelength of 510 nm. The second setup used to record the solvent-dependent pump-probe data was built up as follows: One part (about 1 W) of the 800 nm output of an amplified Ti:Sapphire laser (Legend, Coherent Inc.) was split into two beams, one of which was used to pump an optical-parametric amplifier (TOPAS-C).…”

No spectral changes indicative of sample degradation were observed.…”

“…The setup has been described in detail previously [44]. In short the output of an amplified Ti:sapphire oscillator (Libra, Coherent Inc., Santa Clara, CA, USA), producing pulses with a repetition rate of 1 kHz centred at 800 nm (80 fs, 950 mJ), was used to pump a non-collinear optical-parametric amplifier (TOPASwhite, LightConversion Ltd., Vilnius, Lithuania) to produce pump pulses at 530 nm.…”
