Spectroscopic study of the 7p1/2 and 7p3/2 states in cesium-133

Abstract: Doppler free spectroscopy was performed on the 7p1/2 and 7p3/2 states in neutral cesium-133 using a frequency doubled titanium sapphire laser stabilized to a temperature-stabilized ultra-low expansion optical cavity. The absolute frequencies for the centers of gravity of the two states were determined to be cm−1 and cm−1, factors of 500 and 650 better than previously reported measurements, respectively. The magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole constants were measured to be MHz for the 7p1/2 state and MH… Show more

“…3(a), is made up of the three hyperfine transitions F = 4 → F = 3 , 4 , and 5 . These peaks are unresolved since the hyperfine splitting of the 7p 2 P 3/2 level [26] is less than the Doppler width ∆ν 456 D ∼ 700 MHz. The slope of the unabsorbed signal to either side of the absorption dip is due to etalon effects (the variation of the transmitted power due to the interference between the reflections from the two window surfaces) in the windows of the cell.…”

“…(We will return to this laser bandwidth correction later in this section.) We use measured values for the frequency difference between the hyperfine components [26][27][28][29]. We show an example of the best fit profile to the absorption spectra as the black dashed lines in Figs.…”

“…Following this, we have given the A hyf values in Table II using different methods. After adding up all the contributions along with corrections from the BW effect, the final values are compared with the high-precision experimental values [62][63][64][65][66]. It can be seen that the triple excitations Corrections from the Breit and QED interactions are given as ∆Breit and ∆QED, respectively.…”
