“…In 627 patients followed up for 2 years after ARCR, Kurowicki et al 16) found that maximal functional recovery reached a plateau at 1 year postoperatively. In a systematic review of 19 studies comprising 1370 cases, Zuke et al 17) also reported a maximum recovery period of 1 year postoperatively.…”

“…Healing will generally occur in rotator cuff tears at 6 months, 16 and although longer-term review is required to ensure that the improvements are sustained, satisfactory healing and functional recovery was achieved at 12 months in these patients and the outcomes stabilized from 6 months onwards, suggesting that the follow-up in 1 year may be sufficient as an indicator of the outcome for this particular surgical approach. 16 The concerns and limitations of this study and technique were that it did require some familiarity and additional training with the anchor insertion technique. Further, the insertion of the implant over the lateral cortex of the humerus potentially places at risk the axillary nerve; however, positioning of the drill tunnels is dictated by the insertion instruments, which precluded placement of the anchors excessively distally.…”

“…Shoulder-function rating systems for ARCR are used for the evaluation of clinical outcomes: UCLA score [ 31 33 ], Constant score [ 34 ], and ASES score [ 7 , 31 , 33 , 35 , 36 ]. Our recent study [ 18 ] shows that the cutoff value of 28 points in the UCLA score corresponded to 83 points in JOA score in patients with ARCR.…”

“…Kurowicki et al [ 7 ] showed that all patients who underwent ARCR demonstrated significant incremental improvements in pain, function, and motion at 3-, 6-, and 12-month time points, suggesting that the plateau of maximum recovery after ARCR occurred at 1 year with high satisfaction.…”
