Spermatocytic tumor: A rare case report

Abstract: BACKGROUND Spermatocytic tumor is a rare, malignant neoplasm of the testes. Since the prognosis for this tumor type is favorable, accurate diagnosis and differentiation from other malignant testicular neoplasms (classic seminoma and lymphoma) are crucial. To add to the existing literature on the diagnosis of spermatocytic tumor, herein we report the detailed clinical and histopathologic findings for a case that we encountered. “…Most reports do not describe sonographic findings in detail, but enlargement of the affected testicle with heterogeneity, multinodularity, hypervascularity, and cystic areas are frequently described [ 9 , [11] , [12] , [13] ]. Both tumors reported in this paper were heterogeneously echogenic with cystic areas and Doppler activity suggestive of hypervascularity.…”

“…Spermatocytic tumors and seminomas have similar cytological appearances; thus, it is di cult to differentiate between seminoma and lymphoma with conventional ultrasound [22]. However, the performance of CEUS is different.…”
