Abstract: Chronic low-grade inflammation, also called metaflammation, is associated with prevalent non-communicable diseases, such as atherosclerosis. Anti-inflammatory therapy provides a clinical benefit in patients, but the triggers that incite metaflammation remain largely unknown.
