Abstract:In metals in the vicinity of a polar transition, interactions between electrons and soft phonon modes remain to be determined. Here we explore the consequences of spin-orbit assisted electronphonon coupling on the collective modes of such nearly polar metals in the presense of magnetic field. We find that the soft polar phonon hybridizes with spin-flip electronic excitations of the Zeemansplit bands leading to an anticrossing. The associated energy splitting allows for an unambiguous determination of the stren… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
