Splenic metastases from cervical carcinoma: a case report

Abstract: Splenic metastasis from squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix is an unusual event in the natural history of the disease. The authors report one such uncommon occurrence in a 41-year-old female who presented initially with cervical carcinoma (stage IIB) and was treated with radical radiotherapy with concurrent weekly chemotherapy. In cases of symptomatic splenomegaly, splenectomy can be performed as palliative intent with acceptable morbidity to improve the quality of life 5–7,11 .
