Split, Partial Oxidation and Mixed Absorption: A Novel Process for Synergistic Removal of Multiple Pollutants from Simulated Flue Gas

Abstract: In this paper, a new method of split, partial oxidation and mixed absorption for the synergistic removal of SO 2 , NOx, and Hg 0 is proposed. Factors that affect the multipollutant removal, such as the flue gas split ratio, NaClO 2 concentration, initial pH and temperature of NaClO 2 solution in the oxidation reactor, SO 2 , NO, O 2 , and CO 2 concentrations, gas flow rate, and species of alkali absorbent in the absorption reactor are investigated, with a special focus on NOx removal. Results show that SO 2 an… Show more

“…(3) Finally, the sample was taken and filtered under vacuum using a 0.45 μm microporous membrane filter. e filtrates were analyzed for SO 4 2− and other ions, and finally, the SO 4 2− and other ions removal efficiencies were calculated by (1). According to the above steps, batch experiments effecting different experimental conditions on SO 4 2− removal were implemented, including Ca(OH) 2 dosage (the molar ratios of Ca(OH) 2 to SO 4 2− of 1∼6 : 1), NaAlO 2 dosage (the molar ratios of NaAlO 2 to SO 4 2− of 0.7∼3 : 1), solution initial pH (3.0∼11.0), solution temperature (25∼80°C), reaction time (15∼120 min), stirring speed (100∼500 r/min), and the concentrations of Cl…”

“…At present, the wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) is the most commonly used technology in the field of industrial flue gas desulfurization in China [1]. For power plant flue gas desulfurization, the main technology used in China is limestone-gypsum wet process.…”

“…Based on the literature and on our previous works [12,20,22,23], NaClO 2 , KMnO 4 , and Na 2 S 2 O 8 were considered as better NO oxidants. Thus, in this study, the contrast experiments for different oxidants on SO 2 and NO x removal were investigated, and the results are displayed in Figures 2 and 3.…”
