Abstract:Strategies to reveal the discovery of the relationships between novel phenotypic behaviors and specific genetic alterations can be achieved via either target-specific, directed mutagenesis or phenotypic selection following random chemical mutagenesis. As an alternative approach, one can exploit deficiencies in DNA repair pathways that are responsible for the maintenance of genetic integrity in response to spontaneously-induced damage. In the genetic background of mice deficient in the DNA glycosylase NEIL1, el… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
