Abstract:We develop a rigorous, field-theoretical approach to the study of spontaneous emission in inertialand dissipative nematic liquid crystals, disclosing an alternative application of the massive Stueck-elberg gauge theory to describe critical phenomena in these systems. This approach allows one notonly to unveil the role of phase transitions in the spontaneous emission in liquid crystals but also to make quantitative predictions for quantum emission in realistic nematics of current scientific andtechnological i… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
