“…Similarly, Kozlow et al present data on 16 cases of spontaneously remitting primary hyperparathyroidism that were diagnosed with acute extracapsular hemorrhage on pathologic sectioning (one patient died, and the diagnosis was made at autopsy) 7, 22–35, 37. Our search turned up an additional case reported by Colussi et al36 Their patient, a 48‐year‐old woman with severe hyperparathyroid bone disease, suddenly had tingling of the hands, cervical pain, and fever develop 3 days before a scheduled parathyroidectomy. Of the 17 total patients, neck mass/swelling was the most common clinical finding, occurring in 12 of 17 patients (71%).…”
