Spontaneous Ultraweak Photon Emission from Biological Systems and the Endogenous Light Field

Abstract: Still one of the most astonishing biological electromagnetic phenomena is the ultraweak photon emission (UPE) from living systems. Organisms and tissues spontaneously emit measurable intensities of light, i.e. photons in the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum (380-780 nm), in the range from 1 to 1,000 photons × s-1 × cm-2, depending on their condition and vitality. It is important not to confuse UPE from living systems with other biogenic light emitting processes such as bioluminescence or chemilumin… Show more

“…UPE is present in all living organisms (van Wijk, 2014) and is low-intensity (non-thermal) light emitted from living systems without the use of an external intervention (Devaraj et al, 1997; Schwabl and Klima, 2005; Cifra and Pospíšil, 2014). Biological systems spontaneously emit a measurable number of photons within a specific range of the electromagnetic spectrum (UV and UV/VIS) as a result of normal biochemical reactions.…”

“…This was the first genius concept in biology of modern natural science based on ultraweak photon research that electromagnetic waves may be important in order to regulate life processes. In cellular systems, this low level radiation has been measured by a various of scientific researchers from Australia [25], Austria [26], Belgium [27], [Brazil [28][29][30], Czech Republic [31][32], China [6,[33][34][35], Germany [3,4,6,16,[18][19][20]24,[34][35][36][37], Great Britain [23,[37][38], Holland [33,[39][40][41][42], India [43,44], Italy [1,5,[14][15]17,[33][34][45][46][47], Japan [48][49][50][51]…”
