Spoof surface plasmon polariton beam splitters integrated with broadband rejection filtering function

Abstract: In this paper, a new kind of spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) beam splitter integrated with band-rejection filtering functions is presented. Firstly, the mechanism of single-band rejection phenomena of the SSPP transmission lines (TLs) with and without T-shaped decorations are revealed through dispersion analyses. Based on the single-band rejection filter, multi-band rejection filters are further designed by introducing different intervals between the symmetric T-shaped decorations. Furthermore, we const… Show more

“…Spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) structure can support the surface wave alike surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) at microwave frequency, and the SSPPs show the similar characteristics of electromagnetic field confinement, upper cut-off frequency with the SPP at optical frequency band [6,7]. Hence, in recent years, the SSPP transmission lines have been widely adopted for designing microwave filters [8,9], diplexers [10], phase shifters [11,12], antennas [13], splitters [14][15][16][17], etc.…”

“…In particular, some well-designed power dividers are reported based on SSPP structure fed by the coplanar waveguide (CPW) [14][15][16], and double-sided parallel spoof surface plasmon polariton transmission line (DSP-SSPP-TL) [17]. In [15], a four-way SSPP splitter is designed by the SSPP transmission line.…”

“…Compared with the traditional transmission line structures, SSPPs has advantages of anti-interference, miniaturization, low crosstalk, etc. Therefore, SSPPs became a research hotspot in the microwave field [21][22][23], such as permittivity measurement [24], concentration measurement [25], defect detection [26], etc. However, the stability of these methods is affected.…”

“…Asad Aziz innovatively proposed a compact Y-shaped beam splitter integrated with a broadband band-rejection filtering function. This idea will provide promising possibilities for integrating multiple microwave functions in the same component [7].
