sPortfolio: Stratified Visual Analysis of Stock Portfolios

Abstract: Fig. 1. With sPortfolio, we can observe the management and strategy of stock portfolios from different perspectives. A) The portfolio cluster view gives an overview of all stock portfolios within a given time-period. B) The factor correlation view reveals the return correlations of risk factors, which can be used to validate the effectiveness of the factors in a multi-factor model. C) The comparison view is designed to compare the risk preference and sector position of portfolios, which reveals their strategie… Show more

“…Many visualization approaches have been proposed to support interactive analysis of financial data in the past decades [KCA ∗ 16, DML14, Teg99, RKD16, TLL ∗ 20, LWW ∗ 20]. Since the target users are often not visualization experts, classical designs such as line charts and bar charts are popular in financial visualization for better usability [CGK ∗ 07,ZJGK10,SB13, YSZ ∗ 19, YBL ∗ 19]. For example, Chang et al [CGK ∗ 07] applied multiple coordinated views with enhanced line charts and matrix designs to illustrate the time‐varying wire transactions in banking.…”

“…Lusardi et al provides visual analytics tools for financial literacy [31]. Additional research has also considered the intersection of visualization and financial decisions in relation to cognitive biases [57] and risk premium [56]. But one gap of this research on financial decision-making in visualization research has been the connection with research on visualizing uncertainty in which different techniques for encoding uncertainty such as Hypothetical Outcome Plots [16] or Quantile Dot Plots [8] which have different effects on users' belief-updating and decision outcomes [8,[20][21][22]24].…”
