The aim of the article is to analyse the socio-cultural and educational activity taking place in institutions intentionally established to support people recognised by society as older. The main ideas of geragogy are presented in the methodical perspective of andragogy and geragogy, in the context of differences in the cognitive processes of adults and people in older-old age (ages 74-89), important for organisers and leaders of educational environments. A reflection on the contemporary learning spaces of older people was undertaken (communication from research carried out with the help of observations). The formulated conclusions concern public geragogy, specific forms of educational and socio-cultural activity, based on entertainment and enjoyment, in which seniors participate.
