SSR Small-Signal Stability Analysis Program of Power Systems and its Application to IEEE Benchmark Systems

Abstract: The paper presents a novel approach of constructing the state matrix of the multi-machine power system for SSR (subsynchronous resonance) analysis using the linearized equations of individual devices including electrical transmission network dynamics. The machine models in the local d-q reference frame are integrated with the network models in the common R-I reference frame by simply transforming their output equations into the R-I frame where the transformed output is used as the input to the network dynamics… Show more

“…Based on the ordinary set of linear differential equations representing the entire system under study, EV analysis investigates small-signal stability for multi-machine power systems within a wide range of frequencies [59]. This method can provide detailed information on the frequencies, damping coefficients, and small-signal-stability in all modes and can be used for designing damping control.…”

“…When analyzing the stability of the state space model, the certainty of the system is needed. However, 2 of 20 for a flexible and variable microgrid system, its capacity is small and scattered, and the structure of the constituent units is easy to change, the parameters need to be recalculated, and portability is poor [7]. In addition, the state space matrix constructed by the inverter system has a higher order, and the order of the parallel inverter will increase exponentially.…”
