“…The PPV of a significant ST event for predicting pH ≤ 7.15 was 41% in this study, much lower than the 79% reported in the multicenter Nordic observational study (where ST data were not used to guide clinical activity) [11]. These results are closer to those of Dervaitis et al [7].…”

“…The findings presented herein on monitoring with ST‐waveform analysis demonstrate that high‐risk deliveries with an indication to intervene due to clinical guidelines were at risk of an adverse neonatal outcome, which signifies the ability of the method to identify fetuses exposed to hypoxia and confirms previous observational data . Analysis of cases with adverse outcomes after monitoring with ST‐waveform analysis has revealed that violation of clinical guidelines was a frequent explanatory factor.…”

“…This was confirmed in the Nordic study where 10 of the 15 fetuses with cord metabolic acidosis had normal neonatal periods. 27 The range of cord artery pCO 2 readings showed, as expected, that the metabolic acidosis was always combined with a respiratory acidaemia, verifying the importance of using base deficit algorithms including buffer distribution in the whole of the ecf compartment.…”
