In this paper we use the Expectation Maximization Viterbi algorithm (EMVA) [1][21[31 fo perform maximilin likelihood (ML) separation of cross-polar interference and equalization of intersymbol interference channel. Cross-polar interference (XPI) is an undesired phenomenon occurring in systems that use dual polarized transmission methods. The EMVA is a blind estiniation algorithm which has numerous applications including channel identification. system parameter estimation, and signal detection encountered in digital cotiimcrnications.
