Stability Analysis of Australia’s Wool Exports- A Markov Chain Model

Abstract: The present study is an attempt to analyse growth, instability and direction of trade of wool exports from Australia. Compound Annual Growth Rate, Cuddy-Della Valle Index and Markov chain analysis are the tools used for analysing data from 2008 to 2017. The growth rate of export in terms of quantity is negative and very low (-0.59% per annum) and the growth rate of exports in terms of value is positive (3.99% per annum). The instability index is low (2.78%) for exports in quantity terms and is medium (18.10%) … Show more

“…The trade directions of exports of Indian cocoa products were estimated by computing the transitional probability matrix. Similarly Deepika et al, [6] and Swarnalatha et al, [7] studied the trade directions of exports using the transitional probability matrix. The major importing countries, viz., the USA, Indonesia, Nepal, Niger, UAE and The Netherlands were considered for analysis.…”

“…Millets, characterized by their resilience in diverse agro-climatic conditions and rich nutritional profiles, have been integral to the Indian agricultural landscape for centuries [13]. As the world acknowledges the significance of millets in addressing contemporary challenges such as food security, malnutrition, and sustainable agriculture, understanding the trade trends and competitiveness of millets in India becomes paramount [14]. The International Year of Millets serves as a catalyst for our exploration, underscoring the global significance of millets in achieving sustainable development goals.…”
